Establishment of the University of Dundee

The drive for establishing Dundee’s independent university status gained speed with the release of the Robbins Report on Higher Education in 1963, which examined the issue of expanding higher education across the nation. At this time, second universities (Heriot-Watt University and the University of Strathclyde) were established in Edinburgh and Glasgow, despite their having fewer than 2,000 students, and some new institutions, like the University of Stirling, were being promoted to this status.

Due to its size, location, and desire to grow, Queen’s College ultimately decided to break apart from the larger University, of which it remained a crucial component. The Privy Council received a combined petition from the Council of Queen’s College and St Andrews University Court in 1966, requesting the issuance of a royal charter for the University of Dundee. With the approval of this petition and the granting of the Charter, Queen’s College became the University of Dundee on August 1, 1967. The university is still run under the antiquated system of university governance and has carried on many of the customs of its founding college and university.

Scotland’s renowned friendliness makes it an excellent destination to live and study.

You can choose your specialization later on if you try out a variety of subjects. Employers admire this range of study, and it is a terrific opportunity to try something new without having to commit totally.  and many more benefits you can (see here).
