The Heinrich Böll Foundation provides an excellent

- The scholarships are available for Master’s and PhD degrees
in all subjects at state or state-recognized universities in Germany
- EU students can pursue Master’s degree courses
at state or state-recognized universities in Germany, Switzerland and other
member states of the European Union.
Eligible Countries:
The scholarship program disburses scholarships to
international students, both from the EU and non-EU countries, who have no prior education in Germany.
Scholarship benefits and duration:
Masters Studies:
Non-EU students are entitled to receive €934 per month along
with various individual allowances which may include health insurance. In
certain cases, tuition fees may also be covered within Germany.
On the other hand, for EU students, the scholarship amount
varies and can be up to a maximum of €812 per month along with €300 as book
money. It should be noted that tuition fees cannot be covered within Germany but may be covered to a limited extent in other countries.
The scholarship is only awarded for the regular period of study
and it may be extended by one semester.
PhD Studies:
Attention students! If you are a non-European Union (EU)
student, you are eligible for a monthly scholarship of €1,200 and a
€100 mobility allowance. Additionally, various individual allowances are
available. However, please note that tuition fees are not covered.
On the other hand, if you are an EU student, you can avail
of a basic scholarship of €1,350 per month, along with a €100 per month
research costs allowance. Please note that tuition fees are not applicable in
Germany, but may apply to a limited extent in other countries.
The scholarship is granted for a standard period of three
years, with a possibility of extension for up to 12 months, subject to certain
conditions.

Eligibility:
- International Master Students from outside the Germany:
- You may apply before commencing your master’s program or at
any time up to the end of the first semester of the Master’s program.
- Proof of first professional qualification
- German Proficiency: Level B2 or DSH 2 (with certificate)
- International Doctoral students from outside the Germany:
- Proof of admission to doctoral studies by a public
university, as a rule in Germany, must be included with the application.
- By the application date, preliminary work must have been
completed and a valid timetable for completion must be submitted.
- PhD subjects related to focal points of the Foundation’s
activities will be given priority.
- German Proficiency: Level B2 or DSH 2 (with certificate)
